We're used to hearing Dancing With the Stars co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet ask contestants how they feel, but now is the time for her to share her feelings. Today, the 41-year-old mother of four shared with her ModernMom readers that she has been diagnosed with cancer.

As Brooke revealed in a video posted on November 8, this started with a regular physical from her doctor. She had a biopsy done several months ago and they found a nodule on her thyroid. She's gone through a lot of tests, research and second opinions. "I got my results back and they were not good," Brooke said. "I need to have thyroid surgery and a thyroidectomy. Which means I'm going to have a nice big scar right here across my neck." She illustrated with a horizontal motion around her neck. It's going to be pretty much dead center, she said.

"I didn't want anybody to read about it and get the wrong idea or think that I'm sick, because I'm not. I feel really good and I've actually — I've never felt better. That's what's so crazy about this whole thing." She's booked her surgery and it's taken her a couple of months to wrap her head around it. "Doctors say that this is a good kind of cancer to have. 'Good cancer'," she laughed. "That sounds so crazy, but my doctor did tell me that this is a happily ever after ending kind of thing."

Thyroid cancer has been called "the good cancer" because many types are highly survivable.

Brooke promised to keep everyone posted on her progress. Stay strong!
