A star of MTV’s “16 and Pregnant” reality show was arrested Thursday after she allegedly tried to steal a pregnancy test from a Wal-Mart store in Rome, Ga.

Whitney Purvis, 20, of Silver Creek in Floyd County tried to leave the East Rome Wal-Mart with the First Response test hidden in a hooded jacket, according to the Rome-News Tribune.

TMZ.com reported store security put Purvis under citizens arrest and called police after she tried to leave through a side door.

The 2009 “16 and Pregnant” star was booked on a shoplifting charge, TMZ said. The pregnancy test was valued at $15.98.

The popular show is in its fourth season on MTV. The new season features 12 high school teens, some of whom have already turned 17, whose lives are forever altered by pregnancy, motherhood and TV fame, according to E! Online's take on the show.

MTV also is launching a third "Teen Mom" show with teens selected from "16 and Pregnant", E! Online said.

Purvis’ mother, April Michelle Purvis, who also appeared on the show, was arrested last June on meth and marijuana possession charges.
