Feb. 7, March 28
Emory Diabetes Education Training Academy for clinical support staff will be presented by the Emory University School of Medicine from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the school's Grady campus (49 Jesse Hill Jr. Drive in Atlanta). The program has online and in-person components. The online portion is the American Association of Diabetes Educators' fundamentals of diabetes care course. Participants must complete an online self-assessment and a module prior to registering for the course. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive 7.5 CEUs. The course is free and includes lunch and education materials. To register, email britt.rotberg@emory.edu and include DECSS Program in the subject line. Feb. 13
"One Is Not Zero: Eliminating Patient Harm in Healthcare" will be presented by the Georgia Association for Healthcare Quality from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Classroom 3 at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's office park location (1680 Tullie Circle). Feb. 20-21
Eastside Medical Center (south campus, 2160 Fountain Drive, Snellville) will offer a psychiatric/mental health certification review class from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $250, but is free for HCA nurses. The cost includes lunch on both days and all materials. Upon completion of both days, attendees will be awarded 15 contact hours. March 7-8
"Advancing the Possibilities: Beyond the Horizon," the sixth annual Winship Oncology Nursing Symposium, will be at the Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort at Stone Mountain Park. The course offers 9.0 contact hours through Emory Healthcare. The registration cost is $155 before Feb. 14 and $205 afterward ($55 for full-time nursing students). March 27-28
A Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality exam review course will be sponsored by the Georgia Association for Healthcare Quality from 1 to 5 p.m. on March 27 and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 28 at DeKalb Medical's Decatur campus (2701 North Decatur Road). The workshop, which is designed to help those planning to take the CPHQ exam, follows the exam matrix to focus study efforts. The cost is $265 for GAHQ members and $350 for nonmembers.
