MUST Ministries, a volunteer organization that provides job resources, will host a Retail Fundamentals workshop on Nov. 3 to prepare job seekers for a career in the retail industry with registration due by Oct. 26.

Based on the National Retail Federation's Customer Service and Sales Fundamentals curriculum, the one-day course will provide job seekers with a solid overview of the retail industry to help set them apart from other applicants.

Participants will learn about store operations, consumers and the retail industry, understanding products and services, assessing and meeting customer needs, merchandising and inventory and loss prevention.

They also will learn resume tips and interviewing skills from among the top human resources professionals in the retail industry, according to MUST Ministries spokeswoman Kaye Cagle.

The course will take place 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 3 at MUST, 111 Brown Industrial Road, Canton.

Participants may register by emailing TrainingIsAMust@gmail.com no later than Oct. 26.

Emails should include the participant's name and phone number and specify interest in the Retail Fundamentals class.

However, before attending the Retail Fundamentals workshop, participants are required to attend MUST's Back-to-Work orientation.

Locations and times can be found at www.mustministries.org.

After the Back-to-Work training is completed, applicants will be confirmed for the Retail Fundamentals course.

The MUST Ministries Employment Services program provides both individualized job-coaching and group-centered learning activities to enhance the marketable skills of those seeking employment.

In 2015, 585 individuals were able to return to the workforce through MUST's employment programs, returning $9.5 million to the local economy, Cagle said.
