It was a bad day for the athletes on "Celebrity Apprentice" while the reality stars survived.
Here are the notable happenings:
Was she 'evil'? Kenya Moore, our remaining Atlanta rep, was in the line of fire the first hour because she was deeply involved in the challenge, editing and putting together a four-page spread for Cosmo magazine. The women lost. She clashed quite a bit with Brandi Glanville who called Kenya "evil" in the boardroom in front of Donald Trump. The two "Housewives" have some bad blood from the past.
Kenya pounced on the "evil" comment:
It's consistent with her personality to try to say something like that in the boardroom. I have been nothing but polite to Brandi. I've not gone out of my way to be unkind to her. In fact, the others can probably speak to Brandi making underhanded remarks to me to try to push my buttons. I've completely ignored them. She's looking for negative attention.
Kenya wasn't the only one who thought Brandi was a negative force. Vivica A. Fox agreed (while also throwing in a dig at Kate Gosselin.)
Wishy washiness does not play well in Trumpland: Project manager Jamie Anderson, an Olympic snowboarder, was a bit indecisive during the challenge, trying to keep the peace between Kenya and Brandi by not addressing it head on. And instead of bringing Brandi into the boardroom with her, she brought Kate, along with Kenya.
Kenya questioned Jamie's choice and Jamie returned to the boardroom lamenting her bad decision. Trump agreed but wouldn't let her change her mind. Instead, he fired Jamie. Jamie failed to take down Kenya. And why was Kate there? Hard to say. Jamie's lack of competitive fire and ability to be manipulated by Kenya brought her down. As I noted last week, she clearly didn't have it in her to take on these much stronger personalities who are used to creating reality show drama.
By the way: The men did a much better job creatively on the Cosmo challenge, using naked selfies as the thematic. Geraldo even stripped down, mocking his own half-naked selfie that got a lot of press in 2013.
Team switcharoo: For the fifth challenge, Trump changed up the teams, moving Ian Ziering, Terrell Owens and Johnny Damon with Kenya Moore, Leeza Gibbons and Brandi Glanville. He moved Shawn Johnson, Vivica A. Fox and Kate Gosselin with Sig Hansen, Lorenzo Lamos and Mr. Ego Geraldo Rivera.
All about the benjamins: The second project of the night was selling wedding dresses but it was really a fundraising challenge. Ian, with charity money to burn, jumped aboard. And Geraldo decided to go again, still thinking he had deep pockets at Fox News to help him out. Both pulled in mucho dollars and it came down to just $2,500 between them. In the end, Trump gave them the option to keep their own money and they did so each pocketed $300,000 for their respective charities.
Poor Terrell: Terrell, who had lost the third challenge as project manager but avoided getting fired, didn't seem all that fired up this time. He also raised the least money on the team. Trump ended up using that as criteria to fire him. Not a lot of drama there.
Raising her profile: Kenya kept her head above water during the fifth challenge, working the wedding shop and keeping away from Brandi. Or more accurately, Brandi avoided Kenya, then had a panic attack and had to go back to the hotel room early. Kenya thought she was a quitter and was scared of her. In the end, Brandi raised $40,000 to Kenya's still respectable $35,000. Ian said Kenya was his best worker.
"You know who the boss is. It's Miss Moore," Kenya said.
