The White House will not be weighing in on the mushrooming battle between Delta Air Lines and the National Rifle Association that’s roiled the Georgia Legislature this week – at least for now.
Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Tuesday that the Trump administration is concentrating on the larger firearms and public safety debate in the aftermath of the recent mass shooting at a Parkland, Fla., high school and not “sidebar conversations.”
“The administration is focused when it comes to this conversation on what we can do to help the safety and security of America’s children,” Sanders told reporters after being asked about Georgia’s Delta-NRA fight. “We’re not wading into other sidebar conversations right now.”
Sanders' comments came a day after Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle effectively blocked a tax break for Delta in retribution for the airline cutting business ties with the NRA.
