Melania Trump's prime time debut last night was meant to be a character booster for her husband, but several reporters quickly noticed something else about the 46-year-old former model's talk: Part of it was eerily similar to Michelle Obama's convention speech eight years ago.

Jason Miller, a senior spokesman for the Trump campaign, released this statement later in the evening that steered clear of mentioning Michelle Obama:
"In writing her beautiful speech, Melania's team of writers took notes on her life's inspirations, and in some instances included fragments that reflected her own thinking. Melania's immigrant experience and love for America shone through in her speech, which made it such a success."
The Associated Press this morning quotes Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort on CNN this morning saying "there's no cribbing of Michelle Obama's speech:
"Certainly, there's no feeling on her part that she did it," he said. "What she did was use words that are common words."
Manafort said Mrs. Trump was aware of "how her speech was going to be scrutinized" and said any notion that she picked up portions of Mrs. Obama's convention talk was "just absurd."
The news was met with criticism and groans by some in Georgia:
