Nearly all of the 12 Republicans who represent Georgia in Congress have confirmed publicly that they'll support Donald Trump for president in November -- or at the very least begrudgingly affirmed they'll support the GOP nominee more generally. And then there's Rob Woodall.
The Lawrenceville Republican is a policy wonk known for loquacious speeches on the House floor about the budget and transportation, not for ferocious politicking. And he's so far managed to avoid the public spotlight on Trump.
When we caught up with Woodall at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland this morning, the one-time Marco Rubio supporter said that while he was once part the "angst brigade," he's now more upbeat and is supportive of Trump:
... "If Donald Trump is ahead of America, Congress is going to say speed up. Or slow down. Or move to the right or left. The job of Congress is not to be the cheerleader, and Donald Trump understands that."
Woodall said he once had a "heavy heart about America’s future" but that all of his lingering questions have since been answered.
"I look forward to working with all of you to walk and knock on doors and make sure the election turns out the way we want it to," he said.
