WASHINGTON -- Ellijay conservative activist Joe McCutchen, prolific caller of talk shows and politicians, made a name for himself in 2012 as perhaps Mitt Romney's most enthusiastic fan.
The Washington Post wrote about him here. McCutchen had a memorable turn on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," as shown below.

Washington is now abuzz with talk of Mitt 3.0, as Romney is making moves to start another run for the presidency. A speech scheduled for Friday at the Republican National Committee meeting in San Diego is a big public step.
But McCutchen has a new flame: Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas. He considers Cruz a "Super Taxpayer Champion" who reminds the activist of Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher -- the biggest compliment McCutchen can bestow.
"I'm more of a Cruz conservative than I am a Romney conservative," McCutchen said. He still holds the former Massachusetts governor in high personal esteem, but sees a potential Romney bid as fighting for the moderate wing of the party with Jeb Bush and Chris Christie:
"I really like Cruz, and I'm crazy about Cruz. I think he's a great leader. ... I will go for him with great enthusiasm. If he doesn't run, I'll take a look at Mitt again. If he runs again, I don't know. Three times?"
So we now have McCutchen, who once said he was so excited about Romney that he couldn't sleep at night, and another fella who got a Romney face tattoo expressing their concerns. Strange times.
