After an unsuccessful push to convince the Commission on Presidential Debates to reconsider its decision of blocking Gary Johnson from participating in tonight's presidential debate, Libertarians took to social media to express their displeasure with the two-candidate setup.
Nicholas Sarwark, chairman of the Libertarian Party's national committee, wrote a sassy "thank you" note to the co-chairs of the commission in this Facebook video. And the party used this meme to summarize their thoughts on Twitter:
Johnson and his running mate Bill Weld, meanwhile, were on hand at Twitter headquarters in Manhattan live tweeting the debate:
The Commission on Presidential Debates said Johnson and the Green Party's Jill Stein did not qualify to participate in the first of three presidential debates because neither secured more than 15 percent of the vote in at least five major national polls. (Johnson scored an average of 7.4 percent in recent surveys, according to to Real Clear Politics, compared to Stein's 2.4 percent.)
