The polls are open in Georgia, as the state caps off a frantic election season in nationally scrutinized races for governor and U.S. Senate.
Voting takes place throughout the state until 7 p.m. If you are in line by 7, you can cast a vote by law. You can find your polling place here.
From the top of the ticket to local contests, competitive races abound. Gov. Nathan Deal faces a spirited challenge from Democrat Jason Carter. A pair of political newcomers, Republican David Perdue and Democrat Michelle Nunn, are battling in a race that could decide which party controls the U.S. Senate.
Yet Libertarian candidates Andrew Hunt, in the governor's race, and Amanda Swafford, in the Senate race, could peel away enough votes to force runoff elections, if no candidate can top 50 percent.
The school superintendent race is also tight, with Republican Richard Woods facing Democrat Valarie Wilson. Georgia's 12th Congressional District has seen more television advertisements than any other U.S. House race in the country as Republican Rick Allen seeks to unseat U.S. Rep. John Barrow, D-Augusta, the House's last white Democrat from the Deep South.
At the local level, Cobb County voters will decide on a special local option sales tax and Clayton County will decide whether to expand MARTA into its borders.
