Former Georgia Congressman Newt Gingrich was left to eat his words Thursday after Donald Trump rebuked his ally for saying the president-elect was no longer interested in ensuring Washington is not beholden to special interests.

Trump didn't use Gingrich's name in his Twitter scold, but its focus was clear:

Gingrich was quick to admit he "made a big boo-boo" when it came to "draining the swamp," or DTS:

"I goofed," Gingrich said in the video. "Draining the swamp is in. The alligators should be worried."
