What exactly is a person like U.S. Sen. David Perdue doing in a place like Iowa?

Rumors of Perdue's aspirations for higher office have been unceasing. But this jaunt to the Hawkeye State isn't much to raise an eyebrow at, apparently.

Georgia's junior Republican senator will be in Cedar Rapids Friday campaigning with Chuck Grassley, his Senate Judiciary colleague, who's on the ballot this November.

The two will be joined by Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst, part of a joint effort help the GOP maintain its majority in the upper chamber this November. (Grassley, by the way, is +15.7 in his race.) They'll be holding a joint press conference in the morning.

We hear Perdue is scheduled to attend several events with Grassley over the weekend, including meeting with Alliant Energy, a public utility company. Perdue once served on its board.
