Eleventh District challenger Daniel Cowan is out Wednesday with the first television ad in the Republican primary campaign.
Entitled "Says," the 30-second spot features what the campaign says are actual supporters singing the investment banker's virtues. You can see it for yourself below:
Notably, it begins with a collage of photos featuring former U.S. House Speaker John Boehner -- a Republican -- along with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. We told you earlier this week about how incumbent U.S. Rep. Barry Loudermilk's vote for Boehner as speaker is causing indigestion. This ad would appear to solidify that theory.
Cowan earlier this week also announced he had raised $370,000 in the first quarter of this year, which is how he's paying for the ad. We've put in a question to his campaign for details on how big of an ad buy he's made and which stations will air the spot. A quick check of FCC records does not indicate any of the four Atlanta commercial stations have the ad in rotation. Update: A Cowan spokesman says they made a substantial cable-only buy that will air district-wide and will be part of a larger co-ordinated campaign.
The other candidates in the race are Billy Davis of Kennesaw, Hayden Collins, and William Llop of Sandy Springs.
