WASHINGTON -- Democratic presidential contender Bernie Sanders will hold a rally in Atlanta on Monday, wrapping up a two-day Georgia swing.
The Vermont senator is running a vigorous challenge to front-runner Hillary Clinton but has struggled to find his footing as the political conversation has shifted to national security in the wake of the Paris attacks. Still, Sanders has a passionate following for his relentless focus on breaking up Wall Street banks and attacking income inequality.
The 7 p.m. rally Monday at the Fox Theater will include an introduction from rapper Killer Mike, according to the Sanders campaign. Killer Mike -- real name Michael Render -- is not new to the politics game. He had a short-lived write-in candidacy for state House this summer. The Outkast collaborator is big on criminal justice reform.
Sanders' Atlanta trip follows a previously announced Sunday night appearance in Savannah, as Sanders is hitting neighboring South Carolina this weekend as well.
Sanders drew 1,200 to an Atlanta fundraiser in September on his first trip to the state. Hillary Clinton has visited a couple times, including a criminal justice reform-themed event at Clark Atlanta University on Oct. 30.
Clinton has locked down Georgia's Democratic establishment, so it will be interesting to see if any notable names show up for Sanders.
