After tangling with Ted Cruz in last week's Republican debate, Donald Trump amplified his attacks on his main GOP rival this weekend, but one of those efforts actually drew boos from some conservative activists, as the Trump campaign took on an increasingly negative tone.
"He's a nasty guy," Trump said of Cruz on the ABC show, "This week."
"Nobody likes him," Trump added.
On Saturday, Trump also zeroed in on Cruz.
"I mean, you give a campaign contribution to Ted Cruz and you get whatever the hell you want," Trump told a Tea Party gathering in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
But that attack quickly drew out hecklers who interrupted Trump.
Cruz had spoken earlier in the day to same group, but said nothing about Trump.
Later in the day in New Hampshire, Trump went on a more extended rant against Cruz as well, arguing that Cruz is the one who has gone negative in their fight.
"He finally went off the wagon a little bit and went crazy," Trump said in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
In New Hampshire, Trump again criticized Cruz over his attack on "New York values," as Trump once more used the echoes of 9/11 to jab back at Cruz.
With Trump urging Cruz to apologize, Cruz did just that - but not my saying he was sorry.
So, after weeks of not engaging, suddenly the GOP race is all about jabs between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, with Trump right now being the aggressor.
