Stopping in a key election battleground in the outer suburbs of Washington, D.C., Donald Trump on Tuesday belittled Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, saying her election in November would make things even worse for the United States on the world stage.

"I mean, here's a woman who is a total thief, she's a crook," Trump said of Clinton to a rally in Ashburn, Virginia. "She lies more than any human being I've ever seen."

In pressing his attacks on Clinton, Trump said to elect his opponent would mean a more destructive foreign policy than that of the Obama Administration.

"We have a total mess," Trump said to cheers, as he rattled off questions about how President Obama dealt with Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and more.

"You saw her speech the other night," Trump said of Clinton. "Do you think she looks presidential?"

The crowd answered with a full-throated, "No!"

"We have a movement going, this is beyond anything that anybody has ever seen," Trump said several times at his Virginia rally.

Trump specifically cited American policy dealings with Russia, again sending positive signals to Vladimir Putin.

"She wants to play the role of the tough guy against Putin and Russia," Trump scoffed. "She's not tough."

Trump began his Virginia event by telling the story of how a veteran came up to him, and presented him with his Purple Heart medal.

"I always wanted to get a Purple Heart," Trump said. "This was much easier."

Trump also used the location of his rally to put in the good word for a golf course that he owns along the Potomac River in the Virginia suburbs.

"It's one of the best golf courses in the country,' Trump said with a smile.

"Loudoun County is so important," Trump said. "I'm a big employer here."
