A day after his trip to meet with the Mexican President and a tough speech on his policy plans to deal with illegal immigration in the United States, Donald Trump reinforced those views during a speech to a convention of veterans in Cincinnati, Ohio, as he vowed once more to defend the sovereign territory of the U.S.
"We are going to defend our border," Trump said to applause from veterans of the American Legion.
"We are going to uphold the laws of the nation and defend our sovereignty and security, and our border," Trump added, saying it's time to "stop apologizing for America and start celebrating America."
"Remember, America first," Trump added.

Even as Trump vowed to rebuild the military and reform the VA, he doubled back to talk about his plans to crack down on those illegally in the United States, and a porous southern border, as he mentioned his trip to Mexico City.

"We agreed in the meeting on the need to stop the illegal flow of guns, drugs, cash and people across the border and to take out the cartels," Trump said, though he made no specific mention about building a wall along that border.
Trump's get-tough speech on immigration last night thrilled many of his supporters, but may have also cost him the backing of some Hispanic leaders who had been close to Trump.
On other issues in his American Legion speech, Trump spent a big chunk of time addressing reforms in the veterans health care system.
"We're going to get you fantastic service," Trump said of his plans to reform the VA.
"Believe me," he added to applause.
