As Republicans gear up for their second Presidential debate this week, national and state polls have been very consistent in showing Donald Trump and Ben Carson leading the way in the GOP race, as two men with no political experience lead the Republican field by a wide margin.

The story is the same across the country, like a new poll in California that shows Trump leading Carson in the Golden State

Trump also tops Carson in new polls from Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina - and it's clearly getting Trump's attention.

Taking aim at Carson over the weekend, Trump endorsed the tweet of a supporter that slammed Carson:

"He is worse than Jeb; like ambien for insomnia," the tweet read.

Trump also this weekend expressed his frustration at the size of the main stage debate, which will have 11 candidates involved in an almost three hour debate on CNN.

Pre-debate debate now down to four candidates

With the departure of Rick Perry from the GOP race, the pre-debate forum this week will only have four eligible candidates: Rick Santorum, Bobby Jindal, Lindsey Graham and George Pataki.

While Pataki is not considered to be any kind of threat, the former New York Governor felt the wrath of Donald Trump this weekend as well.

Wednesday's debate will be at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California.
