Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), already seen as a rising star in Republican Party circles and a possible candidate for President in 2016, will play a central role in next week's State of the Union Address, as he will give the official GOP response to the President's speech.
"Marco Rubio is one of our party’s most dynamic and inspiring leaders. He carries our party’s banner of freedom, opportunity and prosperity in a way few others can," said House Speaker John Boehner.
"I’m honored to have this opportunity," said Sen. Rubio, who will give remarks in both English and Spanish.
It's the first time that the response will be bilingual, as it will give Rubio a chance to speak to a large audience immediately after the President.
"I look forward to laying out the Republican case of how our ideas can help people close the gap between their dreams and the opportunities to realize them," Rubio said in a statement sent to reporters.
