On the eve of a key Republican debate, Marco Rubio made the case to supporters that he is ready to take on the leadership role handed down by Ronald Reagan, as he quietly argued against a vote for Donald Trump, saying it's time to consider what it means to be a conservative.
"Reagan didn't just win an election, Reagan defined a generation," Rubio said.
"You think you're angry and frustrated with Washington?" Rubio asked. "Well, I have to work with them."
Rubio made some mild references to Donald Trump, but did not engage in any attacks - some wonder if he will change strategy during the debate on Thursday night at the University of Houston.

"You will have for the first time in eight years, a President who follows the Constitution of the United States of America," Rubio said to cheers.
Rubio acknowledged that the clock is ticking toward Super Tuesday, which could well bring a series of wins for Donald Trump, unless Rubio and Ted Cruz can find a way to stop his momentum.
"The campaign is getting real in the sense that you're going to have to make some decisions pretty quickly," Rubio said, as the crowd called out to him.
"Oh, you already voted," the Florida Republican said with a smile on his face as the crowd cheered.
Rubio's campaign has already publicly mapped out his travel schedule in coming days, as he will get to a number of the states that vote on Super Tuesday, including Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia and Virginia.
