With the GOP field for President growing, CNN announced on Wednesday that it would hold two different gatherings at a scheduled September debate in California, one for the "top ten" Republican hopefuls along with a second event for those GOP candidates who don't qualify for the main event.

It could mean as many as 18 different Republican candidates on stage for two different debate 'segments" at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California, on September 16.

It wasn't too hard to then move that basketball analogy for the CNN debate one step further:

Meanwhile, Fox News said it would allow for ten Republican candidates at the first GOP debate, to be held August 6 in Cleveland - as well as extra coverage for those who don't make the cut.

But right now, the national polling numbers for Fiorina would have her on the outside looking in.

The CNN debate at the Ronald Reagan library in Simi Valley, California will have two portions - "Segment A" is for those Republicans who satisfy the selection criteria but aren't high enough in the polls, while "Segment B" is for the top candidates.
