NFL quarterback Jameis Winston and his girlfriend, Breion Allen, were baptized together at a Pro Athletes Outreach event in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Friday, TMZ first reported.

With other pro athletes from several sports watching from around a large pool, Winston and Allen were quickly lowered backwards into the water at the same time by two men.

Pro Athletes Outreach says the event offers a chance for “single and married pros and their spouses or fiancees (to) gather each year for a few days of unique community, deep interaction with Jesus, and simply to reconnect, as couples or with their friends around the league. “

Winston won the Heisman Trophy as a college player at Florida State, leading the Seminoles to the national championship in 2014. He was the first pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Bucs and signed a four-year, $25 million contract. He played in the Pro Bowl at the end of his first season.

But Winston’s football career has also been plagued by off-the-field controversies, including incidents where he allegedly shoplifted soda and crab legs, and an allegation of sexual assault.
