One man is in custody but his alleged accomplice remains on the run after a police chase in northwest Atlanta that left a bicyclist injured Tuesday night, authorities said.

Anjuan Gipp, 28, and an accomplice are accused of pointing a handgun at a man who was putting air in his car’s tires in the 900 block of Spring Street around 7 p.m. Tuesday, Atlanta police said in a news release.

The two allegedly carjacked the man and drove south on Spring Street, while the victim called 911. Police found the vehicle stopped at a red light on Ponce de Leon Avenue near Peachtree Street, and as they approached, the vehicle fled through the red light, the report said.

The stolen vehicle hit several other cars on Juniper Street during the chase before making a U-turn and traveling west on Ponce de Leon again, the report said.

Channel 2 Action News reported that the vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant at the intersection with Peachtree Street, injuring a bicyclist at some point.

The two allegedly ran off, and Gipp was taken into custody shortly after, police said.

“We are still working to locate and identify the second suspect,” Officer Jarius Daugherty said.

Gipp faces eight charges, including obstruction of officers, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, aggravated assault, armed robbery, hit-and-run and hijacking of a motor vehicle, according to jail records. He remains in the Fulton County Jail without bond.
