Gang leader caught trading drugs for firearms at Georgia hotel

A New York-based gang leader was sentenced to more than six years in prison for attempting to trade heroin and cocaine for firearms in South Georgia.

News4Jax reported that the Bloods gang leader, Qaaid Reddick, 33, and Brandon Conway, 22, traveled to Brunswick to trade the drugs for weapons, according to evidence presented during sentence hearings and Reddick's guilty plea.

The New York residents delivered the drugs to a Brunswick hotel in exchange for firearms. Prosecutors said the pair planned to take the firearms back to New York to distribute for other crimes.

When Reddick and Conway arrived at the hotel room, they were shown the ordered firearms. However, the two New Yorkers were unaware they were dealing with an undercover agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Reddick and Conway were immediately arrested.

Earlier, Conway received seven months in prison and three years of supervised release.
