A Newnan couple is accused of beating a pregnant 21-year-old college student with their fists and a baseball bat and attempting to strangle her before threatening her with a gun, police said.

Aliah Jelice Chunn, 23, and Romero Stan Clark Jr., 41, were each indicted on three counts of aggravated assault earlier this month, the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

On July 18, Chunn and Clark are accused of going to the victim’s home in the 100 block of Camp Street to fight her, according to a Newnan police incident report.

The victim told police she had a baseball bat for her own protection, but Chunn began to punch her and tried to pepper-spray her, the report said.

Clark is accused of grabbing the woman by her throat and throwing her to the ground before hitting her legs with the bat. Clark also allegedly struck the back of her head with a closed fist.

The report said she had “a lump on the back of her head and several bruises on her legs.” Clark also allegedly pulled out a firearm, chambered a round and told her to “give me my phone, (expletive),” during the incident.

The woman dropped her phone to the ground, and the two left, the report said. She said she was trying to protect her unborn baby, and she was taken to Piedmont Newnan Hospital in stable condition.

Chunn and Clark were arrested two days later, the sheriff’s office said. They remain in the Coweta County Jail, and they’re set to be arraigned in the Coweta County Superior County in December.
