A MARTA police officer was hospitalized after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car in northeast Atlanta on Monday morning.

The wreck happened just before 10 a.m. in the 1900 block of Piedmont Circle near Monroe Drive.

MARTA spokeswoman Lyle Harris told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the officer, whose name has not been released, was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital with chest pains.

Harris said the officer’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver of the car was not injured.
