Mother of a man shot to death wants suspects found

Police released the name of a man shot and killed Jan. 23 on Harwell Road and his mother spoke to WSB-TV Monday.

Michael R. Robinson, 30, was shot once in the lower abdomen and taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Robinson did not have anything of value on him when police found him, but he did tell a by-passer that he had been robbed and shot, police said.

Robinson’s killing was one of three within several hours in Atlanta and DeKalb County.

On Jan. 22 around 10:20 p.m., Atlanta police responded to a home in the 300 block of Lanier Street NW, finding a victim dead on the kitchen floor with multiple gunshot wounds.

About two hours later, DeKalb police responded to the area of Glenfair Road and Maplewood Drive to find another man shot multiple times and lying beside a car.

Kathy Truly, Robinson's mother, told WSB-TV her son had walked to a nearby convenience store for a snack and was robbed and shot to death on the way to his Harwell Road apartment.

She said her son was a “loving son and father” and he carried his Bible with him when he went to boxing matches. He had dreams of becoming a boxing champion, Truly said.

An autopsy will be performed and the police investigation will continue as the suspects have not yet been identified, police said.

Any information as to the identity of the individuals depicted in the video should be directed toward Crime Stoppers of Atlanta.
