With Andy Levitre out for the season, Wes Schweitzer isprovi the proverbial next man up at left guard for the Falcons.

Schweitzer lost the starting right guard battled to Brandon Fusco and was the backup swing guard.

Levitre was placed on injured reserve with a torn tricep on Tuesday.

Schweitzer started all 18 games last season, but received a 43.7 grade from profootballfocus.com and was the 54th rated starting guard in the league.

However, the Falcons have seen continued growth in Schweitzer and believes he is much improved.

“When Wes stepped in for Andy we certainly knew what to expect for a guy who had really put the time in,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said on Monday. “This summer, the battle that he had in him with Brandon to get going, we knew if he was going to go in the game he would be ready.”
