Georgia Tech junior safety Avery Showell entered his name into the transfer portal.

Showell is the fourth Yellow Jackets player who has put his name into the transfer database since the start of the season. In a tweet announcing his decision, Showell said that he will be a grad transfer.

Showell has played in all eight games this season, largely on special teams, and appeared in 25 games for his career. He made his second career start earlier this season against Boston College. He ranks ninth on the team in tackles, with 24, along with two pass breakups and a fumble recovery. He had a seven-tackle game against Clemson in October.

Showell was part of the 2017 signing class from Cartersville High. Showell has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
