Oklahoma City Thunder fans and team members mourned the loss of assistant coach Monty Williams' wife, who died Wednesday after suffering injuries in a car crash reported the night before.
Ingrid Williams, 44, was survived by her husband and their five children, aged between 5 and 17 years old, according to The Times-Picayune.
Williams was injured in a wreck on South Western Avenue in Oklahoma City around 8 p.m. Tuesday. Oklahoma City police said Susannah Donaldson's car went left of center and hit Ingrid Williams' SUV head-on.
Medics transported Williams to OU Medical Center, where she died Wednesday. Donaldson died at the scene of the crash. They were both wearing seat belts.
The Thunder sent out a statement about Williams' death. It read:
"The Thunder organization has heavy hearts tonight with the news of Ingrid's passing. Words cannot adequately describe how deep our sorrow is for the loss of Monty's wife. Our thoughts and prayers are with Monty and his family, and we will support him in every way possible. We know the entire community of Oklahoma City has them in their prayers."
This is Monty Williams first season as a Thunder assistant coach. Before that he was the New Orleans Pelicans head coach.
