The Gwinnett Braves gained a split in a doubleheader at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday with a resounding 10-2 victory in the nightcap.
The G-Braves scored four in the second, two in the third and four in the fifth. Reid Gorecki was 2-for-4 with four RBIs. He had a three-run homer in the second.
The first game was the resumption of a game that began Friday night. After play resumed, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth and held on to win 3-1.
The game was suspended because of rain in the bottom of the seventh. The score was 1-1, and the Yankees were batting with a runner on first and two outs.
Two G-Braves runners reached base in the top of the ninth (Brian Barton on a walk and Wes Timmons on a single), but with two outs, Kelly Johnson popped out in foul territory. Johnson was 3-for-10 in the two games, and his batting average rose to .257 for his minor-league rehab.
Jo-Jo Reyes’ minor-league rehab continued. He started the game that began Friday and pitched two innings, allowing no hits or runs. In the second game, Bobby Brownlie started and struck out eight in six innings.
