CINCINNATI — Braves third baseman Adonis Garcia said healing was his only focus during a minor-league rehabilitation assignment because his timing felt good even before he went on the disabled list. He's quickly proving that's the case.

Garcia tied his career high with four hits and against the Reds on Saturday, including a double that set the table for Dansby Swanson’s RBI single, and also stole two bases. Garcia had two hits against the Reds on Friday, his first game back from a 15-game disabled list stint for left Achilles’ tendinitis.

Garcia raised his average to a season-high .262. After hitting 8-for-49 (.163) over his first 13 games this season Garcia is 30-for-96 (.313) over his past 23.

“Swinging that bat good,” Braves manager Brian Snitker said. “It’s what the guy is capable of. There’s a reason why he’s been our third baseman. The guy is a tough out; hes’ a tough player. I think that little time off (helped). He had some aches and pains, obviously the Achilles, but his whole body. He plays so hard he will be beat up in a week, anyway.”

Snitker had planned to start rookie Rio Ruiz against the Reds on Sunday. But he stuck with Garcia, who bats right-handed, after the Reds called up left-hander Amir Garrett to make the start.
