Atlanta United will play Orlando in the semifinals of the U.S. Open Cup on Aug. 7 in a game that Five Stripes manager Frank de Boer said will be good for the supporters in the budding rivalry.

The site will be announced at 2 p.m. Thursday on the social feeds of U.S. Soccer.

“Orlando is coming up and doing much better every week,” de Boer said. “The derby is special for the fans.”

Atlanta United advanced with a 2-0 win against St. Louis at Kennesaw State because of goals by Pity Martinez and Josef Martinez.

Orlando advanced past New York City FC 5-4 in penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw following extra time.

Atlanta United is 5-0-2 all-time against Orlando.

“This is the shortest way to a title that we didn’t have still,” de Boer said. “I’m eager to win every title, cup that we can win. I think we have the possibility to do that with a club like Atlanta United so we have to go full for it.”
