Lots of people like to celebrate their birthday or anniversary for an entire month. But they’re amateurs compared to Atkins Park Restaurant & Bar, which is celebrating its centennial all year.
Atlanta’s oldest continuously licensed tavern celebrated its 100th anniversary in March, but it’s continuing the celebration into September when it brings back one of its most popular events — the Atkins Park Charity Golf Tournament.
“Atkins Park has been a staple of the community for 100 years, and we have had a lot of fun celebrating our 100th anniversary with special events throughout 2022,” Sandra Spoon, longtime owner who was married to Atkins Park Restaurant Group founder Warren Bruno, said in a press release. “We had our first charity golf tournament in 1984, and this is just one of the beloved events that we are excited to bring back.”
This year’s event will benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in honor of Bruno, who died from lymphoma in 2012.
The tournament will tee off with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. September 28 at Heritage Golf Links in Tucker. Breakfast and registration begin at 8 a.m.
The $175 per person entry fee includes “green fees, golf carts, goodie bags, continental breakfast with a bloody mary bar, post-tournament hot lunch, prizes, and plenty of beer throughout the day,” the press release states.
Participants can register by contacting Elizabeth Howell at ehowell@atkinspark.com or call 404-876-7249 and ask for a manager.
