The Spalding County mother accused of dunking her baby’s head underwater suffers from postpartum depression and never put her child’s life in danger, the woman’s attorney told Channel 2 Action News.

Laquanda Mosley, 27, was arrested last week after video posted to social media allegedly showed her putting the 5-month-old under water as a threat to the baby’s father, AJC.com reported.

Mosley’s lawyer, however, told the news station that she never completely dunked the child’s head underwater.

“Her story is the child was never in danger,” Paul Liston said. “So when it looks like the child's head ought to be underwater, it really wasn't.”

Liston also claims Mosley suffers from postpartum depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, according to Channel 2. He acknowledged that she was angry after an interaction she had with the father, Kevin Dandridge, who lives out of state.

Mosley was charged with aggravated assault with intent to murder and cruelty to children, according to the Griffin Police Department. She was denied bond.
