An extra hour of sleep and a return to typical fall weather — what’s not to like?
Make sure to remember to set your clock back an extra hour to observe daylight saving time, but even those who forgot to “fall back” have something to look forward to Sunday.
Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon said temperatures will quickly increase from the nighttime low of 38 degrees in Atlanta. In far North Georgia, the afternoon temperature uptick should put an end to early hour freeze watches in Fannin, Towns and Union counties, which are set to expire at 9 a.m.
“We are expecting more sunshine and temperatures will be warming up nicely into the mid- and upper-60s,” Deon said. Atlanta’s afternoon high is 65 degrees with no chance of rain.
Sunshine and warmer weather will continue into the work week. Clouds aren’t expected to reenter the forecast until Wednesday, but temperatures will have stabilized in the low 70s by that point in Atlanta. Channel 2 Action News’ latest forecast does not include any rain chance for the next few days.

With the welcome-back parade for the World Series champion Atlanta Braves in the rearview mirror and the Falcons playing in New Orleans on Sunday, there’s no major sporting events taking place Sunday in Atlanta.
While traffic should be mild, there are a few potential problem areas to avoid as construction crews plan to take advantage of the sunny weather conditions.
In Fulton County, there will be lane closures on I-75 for bridge rehabilitation at Moores Mill Road, Northside Drive and Howell Mill Road. Additional bridge rehabilitation on I-85 at Cheshire Bridge Road will require lane closures on the highway. In North Fulton, lane closures will be installed along Cumming Highway for a widening project in Alpharetta.
In Cobb County, there will be daytime lane closures on Ga. 92 between North Cobb Parkway and Glade Road for a widening project. In South Cobb, there will be overnight lane closures on I-20 between Fulton and Douglas counties for restriping.
DeKalb County will see several highway projects, starting with overnight lane closures on I-285 North for safety improvements between Chamblee Dunwoody and Snapfinger roads. Ramp lane closures will be installed at the junction of I-285 and I-675 for bridge rehabilitation. There will also be overnight lane closures on Buford Highway for resurfacing.
Farther south on I-675 in Clayton County, more lane closures will be installed for overhead sign installation. There will also be overnight lane closures around the I-75 and I-285 interchange in Clayton as the new collector-distributor lane project continues.
