Because the family's last name is Pigg, one might assume it was a cruel prank. However, the family, which lives in the town of Dugger, is taking it seriously, WTHI reported.

Homeowner Joe Pigg told the television station the Friday night incident is the latest in a series of personal threats. He posted his surveillance video in a Facebook post.

Surveillance cameras caught a car being driven past the family's home Friday night, with an object thrown from a window into the family's front yard, WBIW reported. Pigg said the pig head was thrown into his yard three minutes after he turned off the porch lights, WTHI reported. His wife, Sara Pigg, made the gruesome discovery Saturday morning, the television station reported.

"My wife got up to go to work, and she came back in fairly quickly and said, 'Hey, somebody did something. There's a cut-off head in our front yard,'" Pigg told WTHI. "So I got up, checked it out and saw that it was a pig head and I started watching video and seeing where it came from."
Pigg said his wife's tires had been slashed recently, the television station reported.

"Enough is enough, my family has been verbally threatened, tires slashed, and now this. I wish they would just come to talk to me," Pigg said in a reply to his Facebook post.

Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom said the incident is being investigated, WBIW reported.
