Principal resigns week before school starts

Aug 9, 2016

Gwinnett County school officials are looking for a new principal at one elementary school after the prior principal resigned a week before classes started.

Tarsha Chambers resigned as principal of Rosebud Elementary on Aug. 1, district officials said Monday. Chambers cited plans to seek other opportunities as the reason for her resignation, school district spokeswoman Sloan Roach said. The school has about 1,100 students.

District officials placed a form on the school’s website late last week seeking input from parents and citizens about the qualities they’d like to see in a new principal. School board members appointed Chambers as principal when the school opened at its current location in Loganville in 2008.
