Gwinnett County school leader relatives on payroll sparks nepotism debate

Gwinnett County Public Schools Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks has two children and two grandchildren who work in the school district.

Wilbanks said he doesn’t see a conflict-of-interest in them working for Gwinnett since he said wasn’t involved in the hiring process and has no oversight over their job duties.

Others believe the situation raises concerns that the four family members on the Gwinnett payroll could receive unfair advantages.
