Brunhild Kurth, minister of education for the German state of Saxony, is wrapping up a five-day visit to Georgia Wednesday with a visit to Woodward Academy in College Park.

The Georgia Department of Education has an exchange agreement with Saxony, located in eastern Germany on the border with the Czech Republic and Poland.

Kurth met with Georgia Superintendent John Barge and toured several schools in the metro area, including Ashford Park Elementary, Chamblee Charter High, Kittredge Elementary and Chamblee Middle. She said she has been impressed by the depth of German instruction and the interest many American students have in her country.

“I was happy to hear the students tell me they want to get to know Germany better and possibly visit and help make the relationship between Germany and the United States even better,” she said.
