The city of Fairburn remains under a boil water advisory after sample testing last week discovered E. coli in the water system.

The water, which is pumped from the city of Atlanta’s water supply, was tested Monday and is scheduled for another round of tests Wednesday by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division, according to John Martin, the director of Fairburn’s utilities department.

The advisory will be lifted once the water is deemed safe to drink, he said.

“We’re trying to ascertain the problem," Martin said Monday morning. “I know everyone is on high alert, but we are doing the best we can.”
