Arrest made in August deadly shooting in Gwinnett

Police have arrested a suspect in an August triple shooting in unincorporated Lilburn that left one man dead.
The fugitive squad with the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department arrested Christopher Jean-Pierre in connection with the Aug. 2 shooting death of Julius Vance, police said Wednesday in a news release.
He faces charges of felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
According to Gwinnett police Cpl. Ryan Winderweedle, Vance, 22, of Snellville, was shot in the 700 block of Beaver Ruin Road, Gwinnett County police said.
Following the shooting, the victims and suspects fled the scene. It’s unclear what prompted the triple shooting, but investigators believe it may have been drug related.
Lilburn officers working an off-duty job heard gunfire in the area about 7:30 p.m., police said in a statement. The officers went to the location and found a man who had been shot in the abdomen, officials said.
A second victim was later discovered in the bed of a pickup truck with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said. He was taken to Northside Gwinnett Hospital.
Witnesses told investigators the man ran away from the scene of the shooting and climbed into the back of the truck, which was found more than a mile away on Burns Walk Court. The driver was not aware someone was in the bed of his pickup, police said in a statement.
The third victim, who was shot multiple times, was located at a home off Cliffglen Way and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.
Authorities have not said how many times Vance was shot or where he was discovered after the shooting. The names and conditions of the other two victims have not been released.
Jean-Pierre, 22, of Lawrenceville, was booked in the Gwinnett jail with no bond, online jail records show.
Winderweedle said the investigation is still active and detectives are still following up on leads.
