Gwinnett County police are investigating a shooting that left three men injured Sunday night.

Investigators said the suspects and the victims ran away from the scene in the 700 block of Beaver Ruin Road in unincorporated Lilburn. Authorities believe the three men rode to the scene of the incident together, Gwinnett police said in a statement.

Lilburn officers working an off-duty job heard shots in the area about 7:30 p.m., according to the statement. The officers, along with Gwinnett police, went to the location and found a man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, officials said.

The man was taken to Northside Gwinnett Hospital.

The second man was later discovered in the bed of a pickup truck suffering from a gunshot to the chest, police said. Authorities took him to Northside Gwinnett Hospital, too.

Witnesses told investigators the man ran away from the scene of the shooting and climbed into the truck, which was ultimately found more than a mile away on Burns Walk Court. The owner was not aware someone was in the bed of his pickup, according to the statement.

The third man was less than a mile from the shooting scene at a home off Cliffglen Way, police said. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Police have not released the conditions of the three men or the descriptions of the suspects. According to the statement, the suspects left the scene in multiple vehicles.

“Gwinnett Police K9 responded and located several articles of evidence, but no other victims,” the department said.

While the circumstances that led to the shooting are not clear, authorities believe a drug transaction may have been involved.

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact Gwinnett police at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta at 404-577-8477.
