Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie joined the hundreds of parents dropping their kids off at Spelman College this week.

Jolie announced last month that her 17-year-old daughter, Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt, would be attending the HBCU for women in downtown Atlanta.

In a video posted to Instagram by Darryl Holloman, the school’s vice president for student affairs, Jolie said she was holding back emotion.

“I’m gonna start crying,” she said, laughing. “Don’t make me talk about today. I haven’t started crying yet.”

Jolie said she’s “so excited” for her daughter to attend Spelman. Her earlier Instagram post announcing that’s where her daughter would attend garnered half a million likes.

“We are honored that Zahara Jolie-Pitt and her family chose Spelman College, and we welcome Zahara enthusiastically into the Spelman sisterhood,” said Helene Gayle, the school’s newly appointed president, in a statement.

Zahara is one of 575 freshmen attending the 141-year-old school this year.

She is one of three children that Jolie and her ex-husband Oscar winner Brad Pitt have adopted. The other two adopted boys are from Cambodia and Vietnam and attend college in South Korea, as Jolie — who also has three biological children — has often spoken out about how she wants all of her children to understand their cultures.
