WEATHER-TRAFFIC UPDATE: Atlanta hits warmest temp (82) of 2019; Perimeter woes linger
It’s been a hot day in Atlanta. It’s actually been the hottest day the city has had so far this year, topping out at 82 degrees.
Unfortunately, activity has been hot on the interstates all afternoon, and problems persist on I-285 at 7 p.m.
A left lane of the Perimeter's outer loop is blocked near Cascade Road because of a wreck, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

After the past two days of downpours and storms, North Georgia earned a nice day, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
North Georgia had a little bit of fog to deal with during the morning drive. The leftover clouds from an area of low pressure burned off quickly after sunrise, leaving behind blue skies.
HUMP DAY SUNSHINE: Goooooooood morning! After a storm Tuesday afternoon, we're headed for a beautiful Wednesday with highs near 80 degrees.

There will be no rain to deal with Wednesday, he said.
But drier conditions mean pollen counts are on the rise. Wednesday’s count was up to 1,476, double the count for Tuesday. That’s just below what the Atlanta Allergy and Asthma organization considers to be extremely high levels.
#Pollen count is high this morning -- up to 1476 today. Sunny and dry weather won't help that count go down today! @wsbtv pic.twitter.com/oKYH2PKlOr

Monahan said the next chance of rain is moving in late Thursday as a warm front approaches the state. It is expected to be dry during the daytime Thursday, but there is a 20 to 40 percent chance of rain overnight and into Friday morning, according to Channel 2.
Next chance of rain moving in to north Georgia late Thursday/early Friday... going to take a closer look at potential for an isolated strong/severe storm as a warm front lifts across the area.

Better chance for more widespread severe weather late this weekend.
“There's going to be some showers around, and there’s the possibility of a thunderstorm,” Monahan said. “I'll keep a close eye on that. We’re really waiting until the second half of the weekend for some more widespread storms across North Georgia.”
