The evening commute is rain-free after a warm afternoon, but Monday should be the last mostly dry day in Atlanta for quite a while.
“It looks like a very extended period of wet weather is coming in,” Channel 2 Chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said. “In fact, there’s probably going to be a chance of rain each day for the next 10 days.”

Rain chances are at 60 percent Tuesday and 80 percent after that until the weekend. A tropical storm forming this week could also be felt in Georgia, Channel 2 reported.
“Whether it forms into a (tropical storm) system or not, all of that moisture is heading this way,” Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said.
From Tuesday afternoon to Sunday, Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said metro Atlanta should see anywhere from 3 to 5 inches of rain.
Because of the rain and expected overcast skies, the temperature should drop into the low 80s for the rest of the week.
In the meantime, enjoy the warm weather while it lasts.
For a second consecutive day, Atlanta reached 91 degrees, the record high for May 14 set in 1881, Channel 2 reported.
This hot weather has led to a lot of Code Orange air quality alerts, and that’s no different this afternoon. That means sensitive groups, such as children and the elderly, should avoid prolonged time outdoors due to the increased ozone near ground level.
The rain should wash away the high amounts of pollen over the past week. The count Monday was 108 particles per cubic meter of air, which is considered high, according to Atlanta Allergy and Asthma. That number, however, is lower than the season high of 5,354.
