Restaurant delivery service is coming to TripAdvisor.
The Needham, Mass.-based travel site and Grubhub recently announced that they are teaming up to make it easier for travelers to order meals from their favorite restaurants while at home or traveling.
As part of the agreement, TripAdvisor will integrate the online and mobile food-ordering company's network of restaurants into its desktop website, mobile website and mobile app.
Going forward, users scrolling through TripAdvisor restaurant listings in the U.S. will be able to order food from Grubhub’s restaurant partners in 1,100 cities simply by clicking the “Order Online” button. From there, users will be taken to Grubhub’s online or mobile platforms where they can place their order.
Terms and length of the agreement weren’t disclosed.
“With more than 4.2 million restaurant listings currently on TripAdvisor, we have evolved into a global leader in helping travelers and locals find or reserve a table at the perfect restaurant,” said TripAdvisor Restaurants’ Senior Vice President Bertrand Jelensperger in a statement.
“Through our new agreement with Grubhub, we’re demonstrating another example of how TripAdvisor has become the site for anyone looking to find their perfect meal, now providing consumers with access to food delivery from tens of thousands of restaurants.”
“We’re excited to connect Grubhub diners with TripAdvisor’s massive, active mobile and desktop audience so that these people can enjoy the convenience of delivery wherever they may be,” Sudev Balakrishnan, Senior Vice President of Product for Grubhub, said in a statement.
The partnership between TripAdvisor and Grubhub comes just one week after the travel website announced it was adding the InterContinental Hotels Group, or IHG, to its instant booking marketplace and two months after it rolled out a chatbot for Facebook Messenger.
At this current rate, TripAdvisor’s expansion and integration are certainly making life easier for travelers who prefer to review, book and rate their experiences all in one place.
Last year, Hyatt Hotels’ Hyatt Centric brand partnered with Chicago-based Grubhub to pilot a meal delivery program at three U.S. properties.
Recent data compiled by Grubhub shows that more and more travelers are craving delivery from their hotel rooms, with the popularity of hotel takeout orders climbing 125 percent from 2011 to 2014. What’s more, a recent survey by AAA found that 22 million Americans believe they will take a culinary-focused vacation over the next year.
