The Transportation Security Administration wants to remind anyone flying this holiday weekend that fireworks of any kind are prohibited in both carry-on and checked baggage.
In a blog post, the TSA writes that because of the incendiary and explosive nature of fireworks, the Federal Aviation Administration has prohibited such devices on planes, and the TSA enforces that rule.
The fireworks ban includes firecrackers, flying spinners, chasers, fountains, bottle rockets, ground spinners, parachute fireworks, poppers, snaps, skyrockets, missiles, roman candles, smoke fireworks, snakes, strobes and sparklers.
The fireworks ban is enforced year-round, but becomes more of an issue around the Fourth of July holiday.
Security is expected to be heightened over the holiday weekend as online chatter of a possible terrorist attack on the U.S. are being investigated.
