United Airlines has drastically slashed one-way airfare rates to two hot West Coast towns.

Travel each way to San Jose, Calif. at a base rate of $54 or head to Seattle for $84.

To qualify, give at least a three day advance notice of travel. Trips are permitted seven days a week, based on sale seat availability. The only travel dates to avoid are Nov. 27, 28; Dec. 23 and Jan. 2.

The inclusive prices are based on travel via Denver to Seattle ($105.40) and Chicago-O'Hare to San Jose (75.40).

If you have an interest to take advantage of these bargains, buy tickets immediately.

Sale airfares are always subject to change. Every seat on every flight is not offered at the lowest rate.

I recommend starting the search for available seats at Kayak.com vs. calling an airline directly. You can also search for the sale at travel Web sites such as Expedia or Travelocity, etc. Airlines can discontinue or pull a sale price without notice when the offer does not have a "ticket-by" date or when the offer is deemed "sold out."
